The Blakely Printing Co., Chicago, 1904. Pp. 43,[blank verso] and [1] printed recto only, ‘Corrections’]; 45-92, [2], [1, Title], 221-236. Further ‘Corrections’ in small, tipped-in leaf following first title page. Three digit number top corner of front cover, probably from a private collection as there are no other indicia of this being a library copy. Staple-bound in grey card covers; separating at the top of the hinge but still firm and sound; small lateral tear at the top staple on the final leaf, not affecting text.

The sub-title outlines the contents: “Three essays toward a true history of the Acquisition of the old Oregon Territory (being nearly one-twelfth of all our domain on this continent), which was the longest, the most remarkable and– when truthfully told – the most interesting struggle we have ever made for territory.”

The essays are, following an Introduction: “Strange Treatment of Original Sources” [ i.e. a review of Dr. Mowry’s essay, 1901]; :Why His Search {?} for the Truth of History was a Failure”; and “Marcus Whitman: A Discussion of Professor Bourne’s Paper”, this being a reprint of the 1901 publication of the American Historical Association.

This specific collection is not in Smith, though we did find a listing in Wm Reese Catalogue 142, Item 182.
